'I would have told a thousand lies to have him, and a thousand more to keep him'

I had heard such great things about this book, but for some reason I kept putting it off. I finally decided to give it a go, and was kicking myself for not reading it sooner. This was fabulous!!

When I first started the book, I thought that this would not be for me. That was because I thought I would be bored by the rude bipolar writer that was Ash. And then there was the glitter pirate model Darian, with his Essex accent. The book was literally written in such a way that you could read exactly how Darian would sound. At first I did not like that, but sure enough, I got into the flow of it and ended up LOVING it!

“I 'aven't nevva,"he whispered "...wif anyone like you."

"You mean," I panted, "Posh? Insane? Selfishly devoted to the pursuit of my own pleasure? What?"

"Like...free. And you're not selfish, babes. 'Aving a good time 'ere wif you doing that and being like that. It's well special."

This book was in Ash's POV. I loved that the book was written in a way that it reflected Ash's pretentiousness. Since being a writer, he is quite good with words. He could also be quite the jerk. But this was all because he suffers from bipolar depression. As a result, he was irritable, sad and had panic attack episodes. I liked that I got a real sense at how much this disorder can affect the person that has it, as much as those surrounding them. There were a lot of ups and downs with Ash. Yes, he could be mean, but it broke my heart to see this disorder break him, too.

“Darian, you're more than all right. You're-" I looked up wildly. "-amazin."

Never did I think I would fall deeply in love with a glitter pirate, as I did with Darian. He may be viewed as a bit of a simpleton, but he was so much more than that. He was male model with an almost orangy tinge to his skin from spray tanning, loves clothes, and takes care of his looks. He was 100% himself and I loved that about him. I also liked the way he talked. But, what I loved the most about him, was the way he was able to tear down Ash's walls and accept him as he was. Darian was just so damn endearing and sweet that I love him to bits. And he definitely was no fool.

“I do know," I whispered, "that you're the best thing that's ever happened to me."

The story itself was quite an emotional one, which I never would have guessed from the cover. I even teared up while reading this. But there were also so many heartwarming and funny moments. I really enjoyed this author's writing style. I loved the flawed characters, especially Darian. I loved that Ash, after being afraid of never being loved because of his condition, found Darian. And, that freaking ending that had me smiling so big, I loved it! The only thing I will say is, the steam could have been a bit more steamier, but other than that, I really loved this book. I definitely think you should give this charming book a try.
