"I get that you don't understand--that you wonder how someone could possibly be aroused by the thought of something so forbidden. But often, it is the forbidden that is the hottest, and the depraved that is the most arousing"

After reading many reviews on this book, as well as the blurb, I knew I had to read this for myself. I was intrigued. I don't mind love triangles at all.
It starts off with Madison, a woman who is having sex with two men, separately. Each man knows of the others' existence, and are okay with it. They just, have never met. From the moment this started, I was curious as to how this relationship worked. I will admit, I was a bit wierded out by how okay they were with it all, but it soon faded and I started to enjoy the book. I couldn't believe that this arrangement had lasted for two years, and that suddenly there seemed to be a woman who risked ended it all for them. I couldn't stop turning the pages. It was just so freaking good.
Stewart was this wealthy business man who was married to his work. He doesn't have time for a real relationship so is fine with only seeing Madison a few days a week for a few hours to have sex. But somewhere along the way he fell in love with her. He accepts he has no time for more with her and he knows that she deserves more. He tells her to find herself a boyfriend to keep her company when he can't. He would do anything to keep her in life in any way, so that is the best he can think of as a solution. I liked Stewart, and then I didn't like Stewart. It kept changing for me throughout the book. He wasn't a horrible guy, it just so happens that his job is his priority which bugged the hell out of me. But otherwise, he was a really decent guy, and I loved how much he cared about Madison. I just wished he would spend more time with her.
After Stewart made his suggestion, she ends up finding someone she can see steadily instead of having a bunch of one night stands. She meets Paul, who is a gorgeous surfer. They share many similarities in personalites. He is a relaxed, carefree, and loving man. He loves to surf but the most important thing for him is Madison. It was initially hard for him to accept this relationship but he doesn't want to give Madison up so he agrees to it. Just like Stewart, he want her any way he can have her. He loves her completely and shows her on a daily basis. I loved that about him. I liked how he treated her, how he hung out with her. How they shared common interests. They were just perfect for each other.
I really liked Madison too. She could be a bit crude at times, but I loved her honesty. She was just really real. She goes for what she wants and feels no shame for it. She was a strong independent woman. She didn't get on my nerves at all, which was a good thing. She treated both men with love. She was caring and very sensual towards them. I didn't know how she could love two men equally as she did. And how she made it work was so crazy to me, but glad that it did. But, it isn't hard to figure out how she ended up loving them both, because they were really great guys.

I fuck Stewart, I fuck Paul, and they both know about it. And the more I fuck one, the more turned on the other gets. The more competitive, aggressive, loving they become. It is a constant, whirling sea of sex. I love it, and they love it. They don’t need to know who the other is. That would take it a step too close, a step too real(…)that just seems too messy. And I don’t want to do anything to disrupt the perfection that is us. The three of us. Living two separate relationships.

Their whole relationship was definitely a unique one, but that's what kept me interested. Not to mention the level of steam in this book was pretty high. There were a ton of sex scenes, which weren't bad, but there were times that I became impatient and wanted the story to move forward a little faster instead of having a sex scene put in. Still, enjoyed it though. There was one part that had me shocked! I don't know why I didn't see that big revelation coming.

But this man's eyes... they see into my soul. They know every bit of me, and accept it all. I will grow old with this man. I will have his babies (...) And try, through it all, to be worthy of his love.

Then soon after that, I felt the story kind of got a bit boring in some parts. It wasn't as interesting. I wanted a bit more drama I guess as too what would end up happening between these three characters. Instead, it kind of drove me nuts but how Stewart and Paul were behaving, and how Madison couldn't be a part of that decision making right at that moment. Then when the decision came, I knew who it would be. That last third of the book started to point in that man's direction. I was happy with the conclusion because that's who I was rooting for after my long indecision. I think it ended good. This is my first Alessandra Torre book and I liked the writing. The story was not a conventional one which is what I enjoyed about it. It was something I hadn't read about before. I didn't end up loving it like so many others, but it was still really good. I will have to check some more books from this author.
