Emily's life has been anything but ideal. Her past has left her deeply scarred and with a fear that the man that caused her so much horrific pain will find her again. Despite her being an introvert and highly skittish because of those events, she is determined to make something of her future. She excels when it comes to math. So she works hard to keep a roof over her head while getting her degree. It's a great thing that happens when fighter Corman O'Connell comes into her life. Cormac has been attracted to Emily since he first set eyes on her. He will do anything to get Emily to notice him. Right off that bat he notices her jumpy behaviour. He wants to help her become free of the darkness. He wants her to let her hair loose, stop worrying, and just be happy being herself. He won't stop until she does, and hopefully she'll let him give her his heart.

'She was my peace, my inspiration, my motivation, and my reward. She was my salvation. The center of my fucking universe. I was going to conquer the whole world and lay it at her feet. It was the least she deserved.'

This book was so freaking awesome. It started off really good. I loved Emily, even though she appeared weak on the outside, she had a quiet strength to her that really intrigued me. I was glad that she found a friend in Nikki, who was the total opposite of her. Nikki helped Emily come out of her shell a bit. I loved watching her slowly blossom. I definitely loved reading about her friendship with Cormac turn into so much more. It was just so sweet, and the steam was very good.

Cormac totally stole my heart. He was so freaking perfect. He was this gentle giant at heart that made me swoon so freaking hard with the things that came out of his mouth, both beautiful and dirty. He was also a smoking hot alpha. I loved how possessive and protective he was of Nikki. He was a perfect balance of caring, sexy, and domineering. I loved his cocky attitude and his relentlessness where Emily was concerned. I was seriously addicted to seeing these two fall for each other.

'Time was the only thing that would bring back the pieces of my soul, but I had the feeling that O’Connell might turn out to be the glue that held them all together.'

This book was so much more than just sex, and the sex was really hot. But I just fell in love with the story and connection these characters shared. Cormac's upbringing hasn't been the best either. Because of this they both understand each other, and all they want is to see the other happy. While I enjoyed the story, there were a few parts that were a bit predictable and very few that were slow. Other than that, I didn't really have any problems. I LOVED the secondary characters, and the freaking banter...so good. Tommy and Kieran were the freaking best. I seriously hope they get a book. The ending was great, but I mostly loved the epilogue which was in Cormac's POV. Overall, it was a great read. I definitely recommend this one.
