“They were always meant to be together, one boy and one girl, two hearts split into two, sent to far-off lands on their own. For God wanted to see if true love could be tested. He wanted to see if two halves of one soul could find each other again, even against the odds. Years would pass. They would both be hurt. They would both be sad, but one day, when they least expected it, they would stumble into each other’s paths. The question is: would they recognize each other’s soul? And would they find their way back to love…?”

“My Kisa-Anna… my solnyshko… God put a piece of your blue eyes in mine so we would always know we matched…”

Raze, a.k.a. 818, is a fighter, a monster, trained to kill since he was a young boy. It's the only way of life that he knows. He doesn't remember his past or where he came from, the only thing he knows is that he must have revenge. He must kill Alik Durov. And now it seems that he will finally have it, he escapes from his cage and heads for Brooklyn, New York to fulfill his goal.

“I’m closing my eyes so I can feel being inside you.” He placed his hand over his heart and rasped out, “I’ve seen too many bad things with these eyes. This, I will feel in my heart.”

Meanwhile, Kisa--who is a Russian mob princess-- is living a controlled life. She can't do anything without her father--the mob leader-- or her boyfriend Alik's--heir to lead--permission. She hates that she has no control and feels very unhappy with her life. Her only sanctuary is doing charity for the church. On one of those outings she is attacked by a homeless man, but a mysterious man in a hoodie saves her. She becomes drawn to this man who she later finds out is named Raze. She knows that being near him puts her life in danger, but she can't help the feelings he brings out in her.

"Can I have you?"
“You can have me, solnyshko. You can have all of me. You always have, and you always will.”

I really enjoyed this book, well as much as you can with a book of this subject. I don't want to give the story away so I will talk as little of the plot as I can. I loved how much I connected with the broken characters Raze and Kisa. I loved them together and how palpable their chemistry was. Raze has gone through and seen some very dark stuff, but despite that, there was an air of innocence in him that I really liked. It was that innocence that made him sweet and wonderful and had my heart fluttering. I swooned so hard for this man. I liked Kisa, although I did wish she would take charge of her life a little bit more. I hated the abusive relationship she found herself in. It was really repulsive, and it drove me mad how no one did anything about it. I loved this dark story and the writing was really great. Tillie Cole is seriously a favourite of mine. Watching these Raze and Kisa fall for each other was awesome. I couldn't put this one down. And that ending...so freaking heart warming. I loved this twisted, yet romantic story. But it is definitely not for everyone. If you don't mind dark and crazy stories than I definitely suggest you give this one a try.
