'I will provide for her. I will protect her. I will give her anything she wants.'

It starts off with Ehd, a lone caveman, who is slowly giving up on trying to survive. He is getting weaker, and this is making it harder to find food for himself. On a trip to find food, he finds a woman in one of his traps. She is alone, and she makes a lot of sounds he doesn't understand. But she is beautiful and healthy looking to him. He decides that he has finally found his mate, even if she wears strange clothing, he wants her. He knows his job is protect her, to provide for her, and to put a baby inside of her. They may have trouble communicating, but they find a way to help each other survive. And as time goes by, their feelings for each other grow.

Oh my, what this book did to me. I didn't know exactly what to expect or how this was all going to work out when I first started reading this. It wasn't perfect, but I really enjoyed it alot!

'There is nothing more important than Beh, and if making her happy means my own sorrow, I will have to accept that.'

The book is in a span of their whole life from the moment they meet. It was also told entirely in Ehd's POV. I both liked and disliked this fact. This being because of the fact that at times, I had a bit of trouble understanding Beh and what she was thinking or doing. When I finished the first chapter, I was hooked. It was delightful to see things through Ehd's eyes, the way he discovered new things. At times even humourous. What I didn't get was why he didn't learn how to speak other words than just "Luffs", "khiss", and "no". I did enjoy how protective he was of Beh and how everything he did was to make sure she survived. But I didn't like how he tried to keep making Beh shut up because he kept getting headaches from her voice. But I guess this is how cavemen thought. He cared about all the basics, food, shelter, warmth, and sex. He was a big old horn dog who constantly wanted to "put a baby inside her." It was actually quite funny when he learned new positions to do this act. Ehd has managed to wiggle himself into my heart. I hurt when he hurt. I was happy when he was happy. I really ended up really loving him despite his imperfections.

I don't care if she ever makes a basket that can hold grain, but I want her to be here with me. I want her to be close to me as I work or fish, and I want her to lie next to me in the furs at night. In my mind, she is with me always and forever.

I'm not going to lie, I would have loved to have gotten a bit of Elizabeth's - "Beh"- POV. Maybe small parts here and there so I could understand her and what was going on around them. Beh is completely scared of the fact that she seems to be no longer in her time. She doesn't know how she got there or how to get back. When she meets Edh, Beh's first tries hard to stay far from Ehd. She didn't know where she was and cried a lot because of her predicament. She struggled a bit to adjust. Slowly she begins to trust Edh with her well being. She also shares some of her knowledge from the future to help them survive. I was able to tell that Beh really loved Edh. I loved the sweet interactions between them. The nose to face touches, how she they would speak their love for each other, and many more. It was very endearing and cute. I loved seeing their love grow and how with time, Beh finally accepted Ehd as her mate. It was beautiful!

"Beh... loves... Ehd."

"Luffs Beh. Ehd Luffs Beh."

It wasn't all sunshine and butterflies, in fact they struggled quite a bit. Things occured that almost caused them to be separated. I loved how much Edh would cherish Beh during these times. He really tried any way to protect her and keep her safe. I did miss having some dialogue in this book. But despite that, I was able to really enjoy it. I loved their story so much, it was unique and one I won't forget. I found myself thinking about this book even when I wasn't reading it. It was that good. The ending however, killed me! I cried so hard like a freaking baby that I'm pretty sure snot was running down my nose. Yeah...not a pretty sight. But it was just so freaking sad and so freaking beautiful all at the same time. Very bittersweet. I was grateful to have the one final chapter in Beh's POV where we get to see how she ended up in Edh's time. I really liked that. The story wasn't perfect, like I mentioned. But I fell hard for these characters. It was an unforgettable, captivating story and one I recommend you read.
